  USES
   GLASS
• Usually filled with mercury, spirit-filled or biodegradable liquids.
• Handled delicately because they are fragile and can be easily broken.
  • Partial immersion. • Total immersion.
 • Partial immersion: Designed for areas with limited space. Subject to outside temperature variables.
• Total immersion: Placed entirely into the liquid, therefore, are more accurate – however, more space is required to obtain readings.
 ANALOG Dial/Bi-Metal
 • Metal or plastic.
• Insert probe into the material being
measured, the dial face is easily read. • Good substitute for glass thermometer.
 • Standard dial face with probe.
  • Instead of glass thermometers for applications requiring more durability. • Used around food.
 DIGITAL
  • Most constructed with a plastic housing, which holds the digital components, and a metal probe.
  • Most common uses a thermocouple probe that is designated by the letters, “K”, “J” or “T”; and various probe shapes are available.
   • Used in many applications – often to measure liquids, gases and solids. • Durable and easy to use.
   INFRARED Non-Contact
 • Usually constructed of plastic with electronic components.
   • Designed to collect energy that has been reflected or emitted from a surface and converts that energy into a specific temperature.
  • Perfect for use on moving objects, hard-to-reach objects and hazardous materials.
• NOTE: Accuracy diminishes the farther away from the object, and these thermometers are not recommended for HACCP environment or product temperatures.
